2017 Ford Escape

The exterior of the 2017 Ford Escape is built on Hexagons, and the lines of this crossover SUV call attention to the 6-sided grille and fog lamps. The hood of the Escape is lighter to make for better dynamics, and the tailgate is more defined than previous versions of this vehicle. Despite more definition, the car still manages to look welcoming to drivers and passengers. Choose from vibrant blues, reds, or silvers for the exterior colors (plus the standard black or white options.) The Sport Package gives you glossy black accents along the exterior, including the side mirror caps, roof racks and around the headlights and taillights.

The inside has been redesigned to give drivers more space to store everything they need. There's extra room on the armrest for your arm above and for all of your electronic gear or snacks below. This additional space is courtesy of an electronic parking brake, which now comes standard in all models. The climate controls have also been reconfigured to provide more space for everyone up front. The interior has also had small upgrades throughout, like black trim (rather than grey) and a better design for the vents. The end result gives drivers an ergonomic and comfortable ride. Sport Appearance offers a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter plus leather bolsters on the seats.

The 2017 Ford Escape has been praised for many of its innovations, including a more intuitive auto start/stop engine, and its smartphone app that lets you do everything from locking the doors to finding and paying for parking.

  • Hands-free tailgate lift

  • Auto start/stop engine

Choose from a 1.5, 2.0, or 2.5L engine, each coming with their own perks. While the 1.5L may not get as much power as the larger engines, it will get you better gas mileage. This EcoBoost option not only helps to save the environment, but also saves you money on gas over time. For those who are expecting to take their Escape off-road every weekend, then the 2.0L EcoBoost engine achieves up to 245 horsepower and 275 pounds per feet of torque. Even considering the weight of the adults and the gear when the car is fully loaded, you won't have any trouble accelerating on the freeway ramps. Or choose the 2.5L if you need maximum protection on all-road (and off-road) conditions. This engine adjusts the power to the road, and is available with Intelligent 4WD that perfectly shift the torque to the proper axle. Also available with a 6-speed SelectShift® Automatic Transmission for a sportier feel.

With a 5-star rating from the NHTSA, the Ford Escape is built to withstand even the heaviest of impacts. However, the amount of available autonomous features built in makes it extremely unlikely you'll have to worry about that.
