2015 Ford Focus ST – Performance and Styling
The newly restyled 2015 Focus ST is both familiar and significantly enhanced over previous versions. It comes with tuning improvements that place the output rating at 252-horsepower, and 270 lb-ft. of torque. It also has new front springs, a lower and wider stance, updated front-end styling and significant cabin enhancements. The instrument panel features improved positioning, resulting in a more intuitive feel to the controls. The SYNC® with MyFord Touch® infotainment, Bluetooth and rearview monitor add to the array of standard technology features.
On the open road is where the 2015 Focus ST really shows you its wild side. The 2.0-liter turbocharged EcoBoost engine and 6-speed manual transmission have been tuned especially for the Focus ST, with gear ratios that optimize its acceleration. The result is a performance hatchback that rivals the best German and Japanese imports at nearly half the price. Performance numbers for the Focus ST include a top speed of 155 MPH, and a 0 – 60 rating of just 6.3 seconds.
Other Trim Level and Powertrain Choices
For 2015 the Ford Focus is available in base S, mid-tier SE, and the fully loaded Titanium trim in sedan or hatchback body styles. The ST, an all-new SE Sport and the all-electric plugin Focus are only available as hatchback versions. Also new for 2015 is the arrival of the fuel-efficient 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine. This award-winning 3-cylinder engine delivers 123-horsepower, and does it with 148 lb-ft. of torque at 1,400 RPM. The result is a surprising amount of acceleration, an almost diesel-like performance, and expected fuel economy of around 31 MPG in the city and 43 on the highway. A 2.0-liter direct-injection 4-cylinder is the standard powerplant, and delivers 160-horsepower. A six-speed manual or PowerShift dual-clutch automatic transmission is available with either of these engine choices.
The all-electric 2015 Focus is the choice for folks who want to avoid visiting the gas pumps – ever. This eco-friendly version gets an equivalent fuel economy rating of over 100 MPG driving around town. It may just be the perfect commuter for our North Georgia commutes.
