2015 Ford Focus Preview

Since first being revealed at the 2014 Geneva Auto Show in March, there’s been a lot of buzz around the new 2015 Ford Focus. This shouldn’t really be a surprise though; after all the Ford Focus is the world’s best-selling car, which is sure to garner a lot of attention. Any time a vehicle as popular and as well-reviewed as the Ford Focus gets a design update, it’s a big deal. And the 2015 Ford Focus is going to be a really big deal.

The Ford Focus has been a very popular car here in North Georgia, from Athens to Winder, and Jefferson to Loganville. Both the sedan and the sporty hatchback continue to be some of the hottest selling vehicles we have here at Athens Ford. Families love the low price and roomy interior, while commuters really enjoy the great fuel economy and comfortable ride. And for 2015, it’s going to get even better.

2015 Ford Focus First Impressions

The 2015 Ford Focus will come in both a 5-door hatchback version and a sedan version and in S, SE and Titanium trim levels. From the outside, the new Focus appears lower and wider, with sleeker lines than before. It’s been restyled in both the front and rear, with sweeping headlamps and a grill that matches the Fusion and Edge models. The tailgate of the hatchback version is more contoured than before and has clean and flowing lines.

Inside, the 2015 Focus has been updated as well, with a more intuitive layout and clean, soft-touch surfaces. Even the seats have been redesigned and are now some of the most comfortable ever to be installed in a compact car. They seem custom made for families here in Athens to Loganville or commuters from Jefferson to Winder.

2015 Ford Focus Technology

The center console is compact and features either a 4.2-inch or an 8-inch touchscreen display. All 2015 Ford Focus models will has a rearview monitor, and an optional navigation system will get the larger display screen. The new and improved Ford SYNC AppLink will have more than 60 apps that can interact with the car’s on-board systems to provide the most vehicle information ever available. Voice-activated SYNC is standard on all 2015 Ford Focus models.

Safety technology includes the available Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) that uses radar sensors to warn of vehicles on either side. The cross-traffic alert even warns drivers of oncoming traffic when backing up. Active-stop and Pre-collision systems will also be available on some models, as will Adaptive Cruise Control that allows you to select the distance maintained between you and vehicles in front.

2015 Ford Focus Powertrain

One of the best things about the Focus has always been its incredible performance and handling. For 2015, the Ford Focus improves on this already spectacular driving experience by tuning the suspension and the electric power steering system. The result is a car with better road handling and an even sportier feel.

Maybe the biggest change to the 2015 Focus will be the optional 1.0-liter EcoBoost 3-cylinder engine that delivers as much power as many 4-cylinder engines. Although exact numbers haven’t been released yet, the expected fuel economy will be around 40 MPG combined, while delivering around 130-horsepower. The current 2.0-liter engine and 6-speed automatic will still be available as well.

There’s no doubt with any of us here at Athens Ford that the 2015 Ford Focus will be a huge hit among Georgia drivers. We just can’t wait to get them in and begin showing them off. Look for them to appear here in our showroom around the middle of summer. But until then, you can always drop us a line and ask any questions you have about this fantastic little car.
