In our last blog post we talked about all the recent success of the Ford Hybrid vehicles since the beginning of the year. Today we are here to talk about another way Ford is putting their best foot forward when it comes to protecting the environment. The U.S. Department of Energy recently began the Better Buildings Challenge, which asks large-scale producers in the United States to work on reducing overall energy consumption. Ford has accepted this challenge and is already implementing strategies to help lower energy use at several plants where new Ford vehicles are produced.

As of right now, the overall goal is to reduce the entire company’s energy consumption by 2.5 percent every year until 2020. If that can happen and changes are made to all 25 American plants, then the brand should experience a savings of $58 million annually.

To get there, Ford is making changes to protocol that will make machinery and lighting units are run as efficiently as possible. The assembly process will be augmented to maximize energy efficiency and new low-energy painting systems will be installed as well.

We are proud to represent a company that cares so much about the environment that they are willing to go above and beyond what is mandated to help protect the earth. You can do your part by switching to a hybrid or electric vehicle like the Focus Electric or the Escape built with an EcoBoost engine. Learn about all the clean burning options available to you when you stop and visit the Athens Ford showroom located at 4260 Atlanta Highway Bogart, GA 30622. We hope to see you soon!
