2015 Ford Mustang Preview

Redesigning an icon is a tough job, one that Ford was hesitant to even begin though it was a necessity. The Ford Mustang is an icon, one that Americans everywhere have come to easily recognize. Ford had a lot to consider when designing the 2015 Ford Mustang. While the retro styling has become stale as of late, especially with the Camaro and Challenger sporting retro styling as well, Ford had to be careful on where it was going to take the Mustang.

Unveiled in December, the 2015 Ford Mustang was received with much deserved fanfare. This is the people’s sports car – bred and sold on the great combination of affordability and performance. The Mustang won’t hit dealership showrooms until later this year, but for the latest on the 2015 Ford Mustang check out your Athens GA Ford dealership for more information.

Tuning and Performance

While final power figures have yet to be release, the car is said to be losing 200 pounds of weight. This, with the combination of the new independent rear suspension will make the 2015 Ford Mustang a true sports car. Its wider stance, and lower roofline gives it an aggressive look that compliments its aggressive performance.

There will be three engines available. Two of them are carryovers from the previous generation. There will be the entry-level 3.7-liter V-6 engine that Ford says will make around 300 horsepower. The legendary 5.0-liter Coyote V-8 engine comes along as well, making somewhere north of 420 horsepower. Thirdly, the new entrant into the engine lineup is the EcoBoost (read: turbocharged) 2.3-liter inline-4 engine. While it may seem sacrilegious to place a four-cylinder in a Mustang, it isn’t the first time. Ford says power output will be higher than what the 3.7-liter V-6 produces.

This Mustang engine is drawing a lot of interest. If the chassis has already lost 200 pounds, a small, light, yet powerful four-cylinder engine should create a new utopian driving experience in the 2015 Ford Mustang. A manual transmission will be available, and the automatic transmission receives steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters for added sportiness.

2015 Ford Mustang Interior

Body and Styling

The styling on the 2015 Ford Mustang still feels like a Mustang. Many enthusiasts were nervous that the Mustang would too much like the new Ford Fusion, yet in reality, the Mustang is its own unique and beautiful design.

The three-bar sequential taillights make a return, along with the famous logo out front. The faux side scoops disappear, replaced with more stylized body panels. The long hood and short rear deck continue, appearing more of a fastback than previous generations.

The 2015 Ford Mustang is a great evolution of the iconic design, which sets up the car’s future to allow continuing stylistic evolution. Wherever your local car meet may be, whether it be in Athens or out in Winder, Jefferson or Loganville GA, the 2015 Ford Mustang will be unmistaken for what it is, yet draw a crowd for what it how good it looks.

The interior of the 2015 Ford Mustang is greatly improved. While the previous-generation Mustang had a nice interior, it didn’t age particularly well. Ford’s newest MyFord Touch system debuts in the 2015 Ford Mustang. The three-bar taillight design element, which is also visible in the headlights, makes an appearance on the interior of the door panels. Materials are upgraded throughout, making the cabin a more luxurious, modern place to be.

Evolving Beyond

A telling sign that the Mustang is evolving is its inclusion of more airplane-like elements, seen as how the Mustang was originally named after the P-51 Mustangs made famous during World War II. Airplane-like switchgear controls various functions on the center stack, and push button start is available as well. The speedometer reads as “Ground Speed” for an added aeronautic touch.

The 2015 Ford Mustang is important to Ford. While many were nervous where Ford was taking the iconic beast, Ford delivered a beautifully styled, well-engineered car that holds true to the Mustang ethos. Be sure to contact your local Ford dealership in Athens GA for more on the 2015 Ford Mustang.
