2013 Ford Focus ST, Flex EcoBoost Names Among Fastest Under $50,000
Don’t get us wrong-we’re all for cars that are safe and technologically advanced and pretty and luxurious and efficient, but there’s something extra special about a car that can just get up and go. Not every customer has the need for speed, but those that do get the itch would rather not spend a few hundred thousand dollars on an overly-fancy sports car just to get some good horsepower and decent zero-to-sixty times. That’s where the Forbes.com list of the Fastest Cars Under $50,000 comes in handy, especially since two of our beloved Ford models are mentioned on that list.
Those two models are the 2013 Ford Focus ST and the 2013 Ford Flex EcoBoost, both of which are really powerful and fun cars to drive.
The Focus ST is the less surprising selection, mostly because it’s a little car specifically designed to be nimble and quick. It can jump up from zero-to-sixty in a nifty 5.9 seconds, and to top it all off it’s the most affordable car on the list, coming in at less than half of the $50,000 limit.
The Flex EcoBoost, meanwhile, may come as a surprise to those unfamiliar with the family CUV, but it’s zero-to-sixty time is almost as impressive as the tiny Focus ST; it can do the spring in 6.0 seconds thanks to its turbocharged V6 engine. That makes it one of the quickest crossovers in the industry.
Ford dealers in Winder will never sell all their vehicles based on speed alone, but it’s great for customers who do care about those things to have some great inexpensive options on the lot. Speed’s not everything, but it’s definitely something, and it’s something we’re proud of.
